What Would You Do If Jesus Fell Right In Front of YOU?
WHAT WOULD YOU DO IF JESUS FELL RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOU!
I was at a luncheon, last weekend. One of the topics of conversation was at a Christian theme park in Florida. They act out, using actors, the crucifixion, in addition to other biblical stories. This person mentioned that while watching Jesus come up the Via Delarosa, the actor playing Jesus, fell right in front of that person.
In a moment the natural inclination was to reach down and help him. Then the thought that came was, or should I leave it alone and let it play out the way the way scripture describes? Fortunately, in scripture, and actuality, God sent Simon of Cyrene to help carry Jesus cross, the rest of the way to Golgotha.
When hearing this is struck a note in my spirit. What would I have done? What are the possibilities? Ignore someone’s pain? Continue to be a spectator? Run away? Too busy? Fear of retribution by association, (remember Peter)? Maybe God will send someone else? I just don’t want to be involved?
Or would I try to lift this person burdens off their shoulders, the best I could? I am sure I am not the only one who has been faced with these questions?
In real life, I think we are all faced with decisions like this, every day. Whether it is a non- believer or a fellow Believer, God tells us to love one another, as we would love ourselves. He tells us all in scripture that we are fashioned in the image and likeness of God, of the God head.
Genesis 1:26-28 The Message (MSG)
26-28 God spoke: “Let us make human beings in our image, make them
Therefore, in essence a type of Jesus may be falling in front of us, many times. Are we not all the hands and feet of God!
Again, we do not know that when someone, ‘falls ‘in front of us, we may be IT! Sometimes it is a split-second decision. What would Jesus have us do? Do we go there?
This really made me think of another scripture that says if we have the ability to do good, we need to.
James 4:17 The Message (MSG)
16-17” As it is, you are full of your grandiose selves. All such vaunting self-importance is evil. In fact, if you know the right thing to do and don’t do it, that, for you, is evil.”
Reflecting on the book of Esther, what if she had refused her Divine positioning? The entire Jewish population in Susa, would have been annihilated!
Who knows that we ourselves are called for ‘such a time as this”?
So, in this season of reflecting on ALL Jesus did for us, let us look for opportunities to be ALL we can for others.
In doing so, being His hands and feet, with the perspective that is him figuratively!
Let’s keep an expectant perspective of this before our minds, with an eye out for opportunities to be those Simon’s. I feel this is the WORD the LORD wants me to share. ‘You take care of my people; I will take care of you! You will not lack for anything!
How do you save a lost and dying world? One person at a time. Let’s carry on His legacy, in whatever ways He brings in our path. So, fulfilling the law of Christ!
