THE TRIP TO THE FIELD
Ruth 2
Now Naomi had a relative of her husband's, a worthy man of the clan of Elimelech, whose name was Boaz. 2 And Ruth the Moabite said to Naomi, “Let me go to the field and glean among the ears of grain after him in whose sight I shall find favor.” And she said to her, “Go, my daughter. ESV
THE ENCOUNTER
Ruth 3
1 One day Ruth’s mother-in-law Naomi said to her, “My daughter, I must find a home[a] for you, where you will be well provided for. 2 Now Boaz, with whose women you have worked, is a relative of ours. Tonight, he will be winnowing barley on the threshing floor.
THE PREPARATION
3 Wash, put on perfume, and get dressed in your best clothes. Then go down to the threshing floor, but don’t let him know you are there until he has finished eating and drinking. 4 When he lies down, note the place where he is lying. Then go and uncover his feet and lie down. He will tell you what to do.”
5 “I will do whatever you say,” Ruth answered. 6 So she went down to the threshing floor and did everything her mother-in-law told her to do.
7 When Boaz had finished eating and drinking and was in good spirits, he went over to lie down at the far end of the grain pile. Ruth approached quietly, uncovered his feet and lay down. 8 In the middle of the night something startled the man; he turned—and there was a woman lying at his feet!
9 “Who are you?” he asked.
“I am your servant Ruth,” she said. “Spread the corner of your garment over me, since you are a guardian-redeemer[b] of our family.”
10 “The Lord bless you, my daughter,” he replied. “This kindness is greater than that which you showed earlier: You have not run after the younger men, whether rich or poor.
THE REWARD
11 And now, my daughter, don’t be afraid. I will do for you all you ask. All the people of my town know that you are a woman of noble character. 12 Although it is true that I am a guardian…..”ESV
For the last two days I have been hearing, that sentence from the Spirit of God, ‘The King is in the field, The King is in the field, The King is in the field….’ Over and over again.
So, what does this mean, Lord, ‘I asked?
If you notice it is Naomi that prompts Ruth to go to him, first. I sense Naomi is a type of the Holy Spirit, and there is a clarion call strategy going out NOW, to us, ‘for an ‘appointed time’ ‘Kairos moment’, encounter with the King, Jesus, our Kinsman Redeemer.
This is what has been impressed on me:
1) Prepare! Pray, fast. Take spiritual inventory, make sure you are in right standing with God. Let’s get the static off of our spiritual lines, so we can hear better, and stand before a Holy God.
2) He is calling us: NOT to Tarry. This is an ‘appointed time, and a special Kairos moment encounter FOR US with our Kinsman Redeemer, our Boaz, Jesus. I believe the Lord was telling me there is a specific window open to us, NOW, for long past unanswered requests for healing, redemption, breakthroughs and more.
3)We need to ask the Holy Spirit where and what is ‘our field’. He is being specific as Boaz was at ‘the threshing floor’, that is where Ruth was directed after ‘gleaning in HER field’.
Is our field a place of worship, or maybe a place where we can witness to others the love of Christ and salvation? Jesus is Lord of the harvest. The harvest is ripe, and the workers are few. Matt 9: 37,38
4)Naomi also told Ruth to make sure it was at the ‘appointed time’, of the day. Ask Holy Spirit for that as well. at a specific time of day, week, month. NOW! I sense it is a NOW WORD and moment for us.
5) We are to approach our ‘field’ with boldness. Scripture says the Kingdom of Heaven suffers violence and the violent take it by storm’, Matthew 11: 12. Scripture also says the righteous are as bold as lions, Proverbs 28:1 This is no time to be timid, luke warm or wishy washy.
Rev 3:16 ESV
16 So, because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth.
It’s way past time to pull down the Kingdom of heaven to the earth. I sense He is expecting a ‘bold move’ on our parts.
6) I believe some of what will take part at this encounter are miracle healings, breakthroughs, salvations, and more as we position ourselves at His feet, and blanket HIM with adoration and thanksgiving. At the feet of Jesus, the ultimate act of humility and worship. May be different for each person. Holy Spirit will direct this as well.
7) There will be anointing of favor, and more for our Obedience to the Holy Spirit to do this. Ruth’s reward was a husband and child, eventually. More importantly, her lineage into the family line of Christ. If God is calling, just do it, you don’t have to understand it. If you notice she went, ‘right away’, did not argue with Naomi.
8) I can imagine in that patriarchal culture; it may be seen as an ‘aggressive move for a woman’ to ‘chase a man’. But her to spite all it was she moved forward in boldness. Boaz was so impressed he tells her,
11 And now, my daughter, don’t be afraid. I will do for you all you ask. All the people of my town know that you are a woman of noble character.
9) There are no genders in Heaven. This call goes out to men, and women!
10) Go expecting an answer!
